Portugal requires entities within the RCBE regime to declare their beneficial owners and keep the information updated.
The system supports initial declarations, updates, corrections and annual confirmation.
Consultation and proof
The official RCBE service includes a consultation function and provides proof of consultation.
That proof is useful in KYC and compliance files where the receiving institution wants formal evidence from the Portuguese beneficial ownership system.
RCBE is not the Commercial Registry
The Commercial Registry and RCBE answer different questions.
The Commercial Registry gives company registrations. RCBE focuses on the natural persons who ultimately control the entity. A proper KYB file often needs both.
