Portugal Papers

Consular Legalisation of Portuguese Documents

Using a Portuguese document where the Hague Apostille route does not solve the file? Send us the destination and document. We map the legalisation chain and handle the Portuguese preparation.

You can start with just your email. We will confirm the remaining details with you.

When apostille is not the route

The Hague Apostille Convention replaces traditional legalisation only where the Convention applies between the document's country of origin and the destination.

Outside that route, a Portuguese document can require a different chain involving Portuguese authentication, a foreign diplomatic mission, or another destination-specific step.

What Portugal Papers does

We start with the destination country and the exact document. We identify the Portuguese-side preparation, confirm the diplomatic step and coordinate the work we can execute from Portugal.

Where the final embassy step sits outside Portugal or must be completed through a specific mission, we give you the exact remaining handoff instead of selling a fictional universal service.

Documents commonly sent through legalisation

Civil certificates, criminal records, academic documents, company documents, powers of attorney and court documents are common international legalisation files.

The document type matters because the source signature or issuing body can require a Portuguese authentication step before the diplomatic stage.

Translation and courier

We add certified translation and international delivery to the same case.

For paper files, we also coordinate the movement of originals so the legalisation chain does not break between offices.

Start with the destination

Do not start by buying random stamps. Send us the country, document and purpose. We map the route first and then prepare the Portuguese side in the right order.
