Portuguese Company Annual Accounts: IES, BDCA and the Official Certificate

Need Portuguese company financial statements? The key document is the Annual Accounts Certificate, built from the company's filed IES/DA information and stored in the Annual Accounts Database.

What IES means here

In Portuguese corporate reporting, IES means Informação Empresarial Simplificada.

It is the annual filing that brings together accounting, tax and statistical information. Do not confuse this corporate acronym with IES, I.P., the higher-education institute used in our academic-document pages.

Where the public information goes

The public information associated with the filing of accounts is stored in the Base de Dados das Contas Anuais, the BDCA.

The official Annual Accounts Certificate gives access to the company's filed annual-account information.

Annual accounts are separate from registry + documents

The commercial registry + documents certificate expressly excludes annual accounts documents.

If a due diligence list asks for corporate filings and financial statements, you need both evidence streams.

English version

The official commercial registry service states that the Annual Accounts Certificate can be obtained in English.

For another language or a court-ready translated package, Portugal Papers adds certified translation.

Use cases

Annual accounts are used for acquisitions, lending, counterparty review, investment analysis, litigation and other corporate work.

Send us the company and years in scope and we obtain the records.
