Lisbon
The Procuradoria-Geral da República handles apostilles in Lisbon and can process documents originating anywhere in Portugal.
In-person apostille service in Lisbon currently works by prior appointment through the e-APP system.
Porto, Coimbra, Guimarães and Évora
Regional Public Prosecution authorities also issue apostilles in Porto, Coimbra, Guimarães and Évora.
Their ordinary jurisdiction follows the location of the issuing entity, with additional cross-region processing possible under the Apostille Service Regulation.
Azores and Madeira
Apostille services are also available in Ponta Delgada for the Azores and in Funchal for Madeira.
Electronic documents
For a Portuguese public document issued electronically with a digital signature or official code, the official route is the electronic apostille service through e-APP.
There is no need to turn a digital file into a random printout and hope it works.
