What FCPC proves
The Ficheiro Central de Pessoas Coletivas is Portugal's Central File of Legal Entities.
Its permanent certificate gives access to the entity data registered in FCPC, including NIPC, company name, registered office, CAE activity code, legal form, corporate object, capital where applicable and current status.
Different from the Commercial Registry
The FCPC certificate is not the same document as the Certidão Permanente de Registo Comercial.
FCPC focuses on the legal entity's central registration data. The commercial registry certificate focuses on commercial registrations and pending registry requests. We use the right document for the requirement instead of treating every company certificate as interchangeable.
Public procurement
The official Portuguese service expressly states that the FCPC certificate is sufficient for certain purposes, including public procurement for supply and services contracts.
That makes it a useful corporate evidence document for tender files and formal company identification.
Remote official access
The certificate is electronic and accessed through an official code. The code replaces presentation of a paper certificate for the official electronic record.
